Who else hated this 13 month drought as much as I did? By some miracle of god, my schedule managed to work itself into something doable this semester. I cut back to 12 credits, which was only possible since I front loaded so many classes freshman and sophomore year. I'm working eight hours a week, which is less than I wanted, but it's also a three hour round trip commute . . . gotta love the DMV. Lessons are on Tuesdays this semester, and we get three practice rides per semester too, which is, as the kids say, lit. I'll probably use those rides to do polework and other assorted riding things that I've missed. No, hip stretches do not fall in the "things that I've missed" category, but I'll do them for my sake. The first ride back was fairly uneventful. The most exciting part was just my ridiculous Instagram story. Coach S put me on Leia, which was surprising but appropriate. Yup, that time of year again. I still didn't qualify for regionals, but after seeing how last year went, I didn't even put it down as a goal. Eh, I might try senior year. We actually arrived early, so I started helping bring horses in and unblanket them. Everything ran smoothly during set up. I was only schooling Leia, which went fine except her being super slow. Over the past year and a half, Leia has gone from being super strong and forward to fences to being a leg ride the whole time. We started with some trash distances but got it together for a good school. Unfortunately, so was just as slow and chippy with most of the people who rode her. Eh. Horses are kind annoying anyway. So, last year, for my second IHSA lesson , I started out on Leia, but I was then moved onto Romeo because he was being an angry beasty, and he quickly became the love of my life, only to be replaced by Pixel, who will now also be replaced because he was sold. Anyways, I was originally put down to ride Tiber, but then I switched onto Leia to finish what last year started. As is the norm for this time of year, it was disgustingly hot. Our lesson was filled with a lot of walk breaks in between trotting, cantering, transitions, and some no stirrup work. Leia was her normal, speedy pony self, but she wasn't too unmanageable after the jumps. We just trot a crossbar once then cantered it then we were done. Not much to do in the heat.

I'd say I'm in love, but I know how the play ends. I would have posted on Wednesday had I not be swamped with homework (read: math is killing me). The past couple of days have been particularly tedious, but the weekend will be open for the most part. I appreciate the break. Couldn't be bothered to use actual paper I drove up with Dia, Kal, and Car (seriously these nicknames are getting difficult).
